The best way to break in your new 44 Pro glove is by playing some good old-fashion catch with the glove in addition to using a glove mallet to help break in a brand new / stiff glove. When using a mallet on your glove it is important to focus on the following key break-in areas:
- The inside palm of the glove (under the web) – establish how deep or shallow you want the pocket and the location in the glove.
- The break points in the heel of the glove – establish how you want the glove to close when catching.
- The web and the back of the glove – help loosen the overall glove in the fingers and web area.
What not to do:
- Never steam or heat your glove – this could damage the integrity of the glove leather/material and construction and ruin the colors of your glove
- Never “run over” your glove with a car or apply too much pressure to the glove as it will ruin the form of the glove and compromise the materials.
